Policies

Advance payment of tuition is required. Payment of tuition is what secures a student’s place on the class roster. Students will be alerted if applicable materials fee are due at registration or if the materials fee is due directly to the instructor at class. The class letters that go out two weeks prior to each workshop will list at the top of the letter how that particular instructor can accept materials fees. Materials fees are listed along with the tuition amount on this website as well as in the printed catalog of courses (which can be accessed as a downloadable PDF on this website).

Workshop tuition may be paid using credit card (but not debit), cash, or check (made out to “Cat Tail Run”).

Regarding eVA (the Commonwealth of Virginia’s electronic payment and procurement portal): A $25 service fee is added to each workshop tuition amount that is processed through eVA. It is unlikely that any of the instructors are registered with eVA or will register with eVA, so any applicable materials fees will need to be paid to instructors through other means than eVA.

Students withdrawing from a course seven or fewer calendar days prior to the first day of the workshop will owe a $35 administration fee that will be deducted from the amount of their refunded tuition (plus materials if paid with tuition). Refunds are primarily issued via check.

Workshops include instructor demonstration of techniques and student practice time.

Where possible, supplemental handouts accompany each class.

The School for Bookbinding Arts and Cat Tail Run Hand Bookbinding reserve the right to cancel classes with a 48-hour notification with a full tuition refund to students. The circumstances leading to cancellation include inclement weather or other circumstances beyond our control that would interfere with the safety of students and/or staff.

In the event that an instructor is unable to hold their class, The School for Bookbinding Arts of Cat Tail Run Hand Bookbinding will make every effort to reschedule the course and will refund tuitions to students or transfer tuitions to the rescheduled course as needed.

The School for Bookbinding Arts and Cat Tail Run Hand Bookbinding reserve the right to remove a disruptive student from a class or from a class roster, with or without a refund of tuition.
